A SMALL GUIDE TO GETTING LOST

the forest under the forest

You are @. Walk with the arrow keys or WASD, or click a place to follow a dry route there. Escape stops the walk; Space looks underfoot.

Use look, Shift-click, or right-click to inspect a particular mark. On a phone, tap to walk, hold to look, or drag to wander. The + and − buttons change the scale. The book can be tucked away.

Rain enters the soil, runs down the slopes, and collects in streams and hollows. Roots hold banks; fallen leaves build a sponge; shade changes who can grow next. Watch what a storm does to a gully, then wait for years to pass.

This is an imagined wet forest, not a measured map. It borrows ecological relationships without pretending to predict a real landscape.

A day takes about a minute and a half. Time: 24× lets seasons pass in minutes. Weather arrives in spells; “wait for weather” moves ahead to the next change. Pause freezes the forest while you keep exploring.

The address remembers this watershed. Your notebook and last walking spot are saved for eight recent forests in this browser when storage is available. The landscape and its weather begin afresh when you reload. “Another forest” grows a new one; your browser’s Back button returns to the previous seed.
